Political Compartmentalization

  • Successful resilience requires compartmentalizing divisive political framing while the work of building self-sufficient communities remains deeply political.
  • Culture-war debates, partisan noise, and irrelevant historical disputes drain time and energy and fracture unity.
  • The guiding question for any discussion: does this directly inform a practical resilience strategy?
  • Build, don't grandstand: address injustice by building systems so robust they render old inequalities obsolete, not by perfecting rhetoric.
  • Implement discipline by delegating news monitoring (i.e., assigning a member to monitor the news), avoiding clout chasing, and neutralizing disruption tactics.
  • When in doubt, focus on building; without a foundation of survival, there is no ground left on which to fight.
